Inpulse makes achieving a state of relaxation and mindfulness effortless. Follow these steps to get started:
1. Learn The Sound First
Before attaching the collar, take a moment to understand how the device should sound when positioned correctly.
Position the Main Chamber: Hold the diaphragm (the flat surface of the main chamber) against your suprasternal notch—the small dip where your neck meets your chest.
Insert the Earbuds: Place the earbuds snugly in your ears, ensuring a secure fit.
What to Listen For:
A clear, amplified sound of your breath as you inhale and exhale.
You may also hear your heartbeat when you focus closely.
Troubleshooting Sound Clarity:
If the sound is faint or unclear, adjust the diaphragm slightly up, down, or to the sides until it makes firm contact with your skin.
This step ensures you know what the device should sound like, making the rest of the setup process smoother and more intuitive.
2. Familiarize Yourself with the Magnetic Buckle
Inpulse features a clever magnetic buckle that snaps together for a secure fit. Practice snapping and unsnapping the buckle to get comfortable with its operation. This ensures you can easily secure and release the collar during setup.
3. Secure the Collar
Once you’re familiar with the sound and confident with the buckle, it’s time to wear Inpulse:
Wrap the collar gently around your neck.
Snap the magnetic buckle closed at the back of your neck.
Adjust the sliders on either side of the collar:
Slide forward to tighten.
Slide backward to loosen.
Ensure the collar fits snugly but comfortably, with the diaphragm in full contact with your suprasternal notch.
4. Choose the Right Earbuds
Inpulse comes with earbuds in various sizes to ensure the best fit. Select the size that:
Feels the most comfortable in your ears.
Provides a good seal to block out ambient noise and enhance sound clarity.
5. Create Your Calm Space
Find a quiet, comfortable space to begin your session. Sit upright to allow for unobstructed breathing and fully immerse yourself in the soundscape of your breath and heartbeat.
6. Breathe Deeply and Focus In
Begin by taking slow, natural breaths and choosing an internal center to focus on. We recommend the crown of your head (also called the fontanel) for a deeply calming experience.
As you breathe, imagine your breath moving to and from this internal point, creating a steady rhythm that anchors your attention and enhances your mindfulness.
7. Wrap Up Your Session
When you’re finished, unbuckle Inpulse with one hand by gently pressing the sides of the magnetic buckle.
Troubleshooting Tips
Problem: Unclear or No Sound
Ensure the diaphragm is positioned correctly at the suprasternal notch and is making full contact with your skin.
Check the tubing for any kinks or folds that might block the sound. Straighten the tubing if needed.
Adjust the sliders to make the collar snugger.
Experiment with different earbud sizes for a better fit and seal.
Problem: Tubing is Too Long or Kinking
If the tubing is too long and prone to kinking:
Detach the tubing from the elbow connector.
Trim off a small section with scissors (start with a conservative cut).
Reattach the elbow connector securely and test the sound.
